It was my first time at this restaurant but it was right across the plaza from Trader Joe's which made it a perfect dinner to grab after grocery shopping! We were able to get seated immediately and got our sobas in a timely manner. The soba noodles were so delicious and chewy with generous amounts of beef and egg on top. The ambiance was very authentic and decorated so nicely too. I really enjoyed my meal and experience here and I'll definitely have to come again!

service was great and we were seated right away. inside is very clean and neat. ordered their cold udon and curry set. the noodles were sooo chewy and fresh!! loved the texture. dipping it in the sauce was delicious. the curry also had a nice flavor and very small pieces on chicken in it. would love to try their hot udon next time

This gem is located in a quiet plaza surrounded by apartments. Interior has many seats but easily gets crowded. I waited about 20 minutes before getting seated. Food and service is on the slightly slower end. Got the gyudon combo cold soba and cheesy eggplants. Eggplants were solid, nothing amazing. Soba had a nice chew and the broth it came with was super refreshing. I got the single serving of soba and was pretty full from it along with my gyudon. The beef was flavorful, but I've had stronger flavors at other places. Looking forward to trying more of the menu!

I love soba and Minami delivers. We've been here twice and both times the service has been pretty good, although it can be just a tad slow when it gets busy. I have no complaints about the soba and usually two portion size is good enough for me. I've tried their tempura and rice bowls as well and everything is solid. The vibe of the restaurant is bright and clean. Unfortunate there is a surcharge for credit care usage but it doesn't stop us from coming back here.

Not sure why I never heard about this place...perhaps because it's tucked away in a not-so-busy strip mall next to the 5 freeway? This is located off of Avenida de la Carlota, near where Laguna Hills Mall used to be. If heading South, turn right on a small street called Oakbrook Village, before hitting Los Alisos Boulevard. There's a nail salon, hair salon, and apartment building on the same side. It was maybe a third full when we arrived before 7:00p, but it took a while for us to get seated. I think there were two servers, but for some reason, one never came to us and the other one was busy talking to a customer(?). He came and sat us at a table after he finished up with that customer. Since their specialty is soba, I ordered the tendon (ten-doh-n, not the fibrous tissue tendon, lol) with the cold soba set ($18.25), and everyone else got the hot udon with poached egg ($15.25), chicken katsu curry don ($19.75), katsu don with hot soba set ($18.45), tenmori cold soba ($17.45), and hot soba with burdock tempura ($14.75). We also shared a family size gyoza (12pc, $14.75), family size takoyaki (12pc, $15.25), and tempura ($12.95). Oh boy, that's a lot of food! I guess when ordering soba, it automatically comes in a two serving portion, but can add one more serving at no charge (three servings total, if really hungry). I didn't understand it at first when our server said our soba order comes in two servings and questioned if that was okay. I was like, "Huh?" Lol. Food came out fast! Right when the appetizers showed up, most of the entrées followed right behind. The gyoza was fried in its entirety, not steamed on top and pan-fried on bottom. Good, but I personally prefer the latter. The takoyaki was creamy inside, kind of like the inside of a cream croquette, piping hot and good. My tendon was pretty yummy, and the soba was chewy, as in it had "koshi" (don't know how else to translate it - firm? al dente? - but that's the word they use in Japan when describing good noodles). I think their soba is made in-house, which is nice. Their chicken katsu was a bit over-fried and dry, and hubs said his tempura dipping sauce was watered down (mine was fine). The burdock tempura was really fibrous, too. Oh, and they have a 3.5% surcharge on credit card payments...um, what the heck is that? Even so, good Japanese owned restaurants are few and far between in OC (as far as I know), so I'm still happy to put this spot on my list.

Amazing service here, it's a small restaurant but has a lot of seating and the employees are very attentive. The food is really good quality and all the flavors are perfect to that of the dish. My personal favorite is their udon, regardless of whichever udon bowl you get, their udon is so soft and chewy and the broth is very refreshing even for a hot soup. Grilled squid will hit every time it's perfectly cooked, and the agedashi tofu as well was really good. I came here a couple times because my friend lives next door to it and she also frequents here, this place is always crowded and for good reason! But it's in a huge plaza with plenty of parking and they always have the walk up bar seating available if you don't want to wait for a table too

This is a great place for soba noodles. It was clean, decorated really nice & the employees are wearing traditional japanese outfits! The service was also really fast, though we never got water refills. You are able to choose between 1-3 portion size for the noodles, I recommend 2 as the normal amount for one serving. The tempura was great as well, in be never had a tempura bell pepper but it was good! 4/5 bc it didn't go beyond my expectations, but still great.
